Kupe: Development of a camera system for multimodal person detection in real time
The goal is to develop a multimodal camera system including active illumination for simultaneous acquisition and combination of 3D and multispectral image data of people in real time. The camera system is to have bands in the NIR spectral range in addition to the RGB colors (red, blue, and green), and this multispectral image data is to be registered with 3D image data. To miniaturize the camera system, the use of filter arrays integrated into image sensors is being investigated in collaboration with collaborative partners in order to reduce the number of cameras required for multispectral image acquisition.
